EUROPE‘S LAST WILD FORESTS ARE IN DANGER DUE TO HEAVY LOGGING FOR COMMERCIAL USE. CAN THEY BE PROTECTED BEFORE IT‘S TOO LATE?
SYNOPSIS
Romania’s primary forests are the last resort of Europe’s wild and untouched nature. However, Europe is sacrificing their so called green lungs for green products and renewable energy. A small group of activists tries to fight against the international wood industry and its green washing campaigns of wood as a sustainable resource. Scientist Ria researches primary forests and their value in fighting climate change. Forest engineer Silviu uses his drone to search for old and hopefully untouched forest areas that are not protected. But the reality is freshly cut trees and new logging roads everywhere. „The majority of wood which originates in Romania is blood wood. You can imagine it as covered in blood of animals and biodiversity!“ A film between the beauty of Europe’s last untouched nature and its ruthless exploitation for profit
